Police have charged the driver of the bus trapped under the viaduct.

Czech police have charged a driver with endangering others due to negligence after his bus became stuck under a viaduct near Dolní Dvořiště on June 16. The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m., resulting in six people sustaining minor injuries. The bus was traveling from Linz to Český Krumlov and carried 24 passengers, mostly foreigners. The collision caused damage to the bus roof and the viaduct structure, estimated at over 1.1 million Czech crowns. The 64-year-old driver could face up to five years in prison or a ban on certain activities if found guilty. According to police spokespersons

Českokrumlovští kriminalisté obvinili z obecného ohrožení z nedbalosti řidiče, který se 16. června krátce po půl desáté dopoledne s autobusem zaklínil pod viaduktem u Dolního Dvořiště. Při nehodě utrpělo lehká zranění šest osob.

V autobusu, který mířil z Lince do Českého Krumlova, cestovalo včetně řidiče 24 lidí, zejména cizinci. Vozidlo při kolizi přišlo o část střechy. Způsobená škoda na autobusu a konstrukci viaduktu má podle předběžných odhadů dosahovat nejméně 1,1 milionu korun. Čtyřiašedesátiletému řidiči nyní v případě uznání viny hrozí trest odnětí svobody v délce od půl roku do pěti let nebo zákaz činnosti.

„Obviněný muž pravděpodobně nerespektoval dopravní značení zakazující vjezd vozidel, jejichž výška přesahuje stanovenou mez. Maximální povolená výška vozidla je v daném místě stanovena na tři metry. Přesto vjel pod viadukt, kde následně střechou autobusu narazil do jeho konstrukce a zůstal s vozidlem zaklíněn,“ konstatoval mluvčí jihočeské policie Miroslav Šupík.
