Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - State-owned energy company PT Pertamina is enforcing strict quality control measures in the distribution of aviation fuel in Bali to support safe flight operations amid an expected surge in travel during the mid-year holiday season in 2026.
“This is important because it is directly related to aviation safety,” Pertamina President Commissioner Mochamad Iriawan said while inspecting the Ngurah Rai Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) in Badung District, Bali, on Sunday.
As part of its operations, the company conducts routine inspections, visual testing, and product specification checks. It also implements stringent occupational safety measures throughout the process of receiving, storing, and distributing fuel to airlines.
Iriawan added that the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) prioritizes health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) principles, which serve as the foundation of the company’s operations.
He affirmed that the aviation fuel terminal maintains and guarantees fuel quality for all domestic and international airlines operating at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.
According to Iriawan, the reliability of the facility plays a vital role in ensuring smooth public mobility, supporting regional economic activity, and strengthening air connectivity to and from Bali, particularly during the mid-year period, which coincides with the peak school holiday season and a rise in international tourist arrivals.
Ngurah Rai AFT Manager Komang Susila Gosa said the terminal has a storage capacity of 24,300 kiloliters of aviation fuel (avtur), while average daily consumption in Bali reaches approximately 1,495 kiloliters.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Vice President of Corporate Communications Muhammad Baron said that the readiness of infrastructure, adequate fuel supplies, and the implementation of strict operational standards help ensure smooth flight operations and comfortable travel, especially during the holiday season.
“Bali is one of Indonesia’s premier destinations with high air connectivity. Therefore, the readiness of aviation fuel supplies is a crucial factor in supporting tourism and business activities,” he said.
