Papuan students thank Prabowo for school upgrades, free meal program

Students at SMKN 1 Sorong in Southwest Papua have thanked President Prabowo Subianto for recent improvements to their school infrastructure and the implementation of a free meal program.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Students of Public Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 Sorong in Southwest Papua expressed gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for school facility improvements and the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program through a handwritten letter delivered this week.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti personally handed the letter to the president at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.

'This is a thank-you note for you, sir, written from the heart," the minister told Prabowo, according to a statement received on Friday.

The president accepted the letter with a smile and read it carefully, Abdul Mu'ti said.

"We, students of SMKN 1 Sorong, would like to extend our deepest gratitude to President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto for building us a library and toilets and extending the MBG program to our school," the students wrote.

They said the assistance represented more than physical infrastructure improvements and had helped create a better learning environment.

"This assistance means a lot to us. With a better library, we are now more motivated to read, learn, and expand our knowledge," they wrote.

The students added that the new facilities had made the school environment more comfortable and supportive of learning activities.

They also highlighted improvements in sanitation facilities.

"The construction of school toilets has had a positive impact on the cleanliness and health of the entire school community. We can now use more proper, clean, and comfortable facilities every day," the letter read.

While presenting the letter, Abdul Mu'ti told the president that the students represented his aspirations for the future of Indonesian education.

"They are like your dream," the minister remarked.

The letter reflected how school facility improvements and the MBG program have been directly felt by students in Sorong.
