New Nightjet now also runs to Zurich

The new Nightjet trains operated by Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) will soon run to Zurich. The inaugural trip to Zurich takes place overnight on Monday, with daily service starting thereafter. Die neuen Nachtzüge der ÖBB verkehren demnächst auch in die Schweiz : In der Nacht auf Montag findet die Premierenfahrt nach Zürich statt. Die Verbindung wird anschließend täglich angeboten – Abfahrt 21.39 Uhr am Wiener Hauptbahnhof. Damit sind ÖBB-Nachtzüge der neuen Generation auf neun Linien unterwegs.

Die siebenteiligen Nightjets bestehen aus je zwei Sitzwagen, drei Liegewagen und zwei Schlafwagen. Die maximale Gesamtkapazität pro Garnitur beläuft sich auf 254 Plätze. Zudem sind sechs Fahrradstellplätze sowie – im Vergleich zu den älteren Zügen – mehr Platz für Gepäck, Kinderwagen und Sportequipment vorhanden.

Ein elektronisches Zutrittssystem und Videoüberwachung sollen das Sicherheitsgefühl steigern. Bahnreisende können aus verschiedenen Komfortkategorien wählen – die Preise starten bei 34,90 Euro.
