Bivši izraelski premijer Ehud Barak pozvao je na smenu premijera Benjamina Netanjahua "štapovima i kamenjem" ako pokuša da potkopa predstojeće opšte izbore.
Barak , koji je bio na čelu izraelske vlade od 1999. do 2001. godine, te izjave je dao u današnjem intervjuu za izraelski javni servis KAN.

Barak tvrdi da bi Netanjahu mogao izazvati sabotažu pokretanjem vojnih operacija u Libanu , što bi izazvalo odmazdu Hezbolaha i Irana.
- Netanjahu želi beskonačan rat jer shvata da bi kraj rata ubrzao njegovo suđenje - izjavio je Barak, dodajući da je premijer već opstruirao dogovore o razmeni zarobljenika sa Hamasom i blokirao napredak u pregovorima koji se tiču Libana.
"Arogancija i nedostatak vizije"
Netanjahu je na čelu aktuelne vlade od kraja decembra 2022. godine, a njegova koalicija se u velikoj meri opisuje kao najdesnija u istoriji Izraela.
Izbori se očekuju u septembru ili oktobru. U Izraelu se protiv Netanjahua vodi sudski postupak zbog optužbi za korupciju, a od 2024. godine traži ga i Međunarodni krivični sud zbog optužbi za ratne zločine i zločine protiv čovečnosti u Gazi.
Barak je takođe oštro kritikovao nacrt sporazuma između SAD i Irana.

U međuvremenu, dok je američki predsednik Donald Tramp izjavio da će sporazum s Iranom o otvaranju Ormuskog moreuza biti potpisan u nedelju, Teheran je osporio taj vremenski okvir, navodeći da bi potpisivanje moglo da se dogodi u narednim danima.
Nastavljaju se i napori za okončanje rata koji su SAD i Izrael pokrenuli protiv Iraka 28. februara, a prekid vatre, uz posredovanje Pakistana, na snazi je od 8. aprila.
