US-Präsident Donald Trump landete auf dem Genfer Flughafen. Von hier aus reiste er weiter nach Évian in Frankreich, um am G7-Gipfel teilzunehmen.
Am Treffen der wichtigsten westlichen Industrienationen werden die Kriege in Nahost und in der Ukraine, aber auch der Umgang mit Künstlicher Intelligenz besprochen.
In Genf empfing Bundespräsident Guy Parmelin zunächst die Präsidentin der Europäischen Kommission, Ursula von der Leyen, und den Präsidenten des Europäischen Rates, António Costa. Auch die beiden reisen zum G7-Treffen.
Donald Trump wurde von Bundespräsident Guy Parmelin und der Botschafterin der USA in der Schweiz, Callista Gingrich, empfangen. Der US-Präsident war allerdings nur kurz auf dem Rollfeld des Genfer Flughafens. Er stieg zügig in einen Helikopter der US-amerikanischen Marine ein, wie auf einer Live-Übertragung der Nachrichtenagentur Keystone-SDA zu sehen war.

Der Helikopter hob kurz danach in Richtung Évian ab, begleitet von weiteren Militärmaschinen. Im französischen Ort am Genfersee findet vom 15. bis zum 17. Juni das Treffen der G7-Staaten statt.

Treffen im Zeichen des Nahost-Kriegs
Nach der Einigung auf ein Abkommen zur Beendigung des Iran-Kriegs bereitet US-Präsident Trump beim G7-Gipfel mit seinen Verbündeten die Umsetzung der Vereinbarung vor. Die vier europäischen Mitgliedstaaten der Gruppe demokratischer Wirtschaftsmächte bekräftigten noch in der Nacht auf Montag ihre Bereitschaft, sich an einer «rein defensiv ausgerichteten, unabhängigen» Militärmission zur Sicherung der für den Ölhandel so wichtigen Strasse von Hormus zu beteiligen.
«Mit dem Abkommen öffnet sich eine Gelegenheit, die Region und die Weltwirtschaft wieder zu stabilisieren», hiess es in einer gemeinsamen Erklärung von Deutschlands Kanzler Friedrich Merz, dem französischen Präsidenten Emmanuel Macron, Grossbritanniens Premierminister Keir Starmer und der italienischen Ministerpräsidentin Giorgia Meloni.
