A man in Pardubice tried to swim across the Labe at night and drowned.

A man was found dead in the Elbe River in Pardubice after attempting to swim across it during the night. Police divers discovered him without signs of life. The incident occurred around 2 AM on Friday. According to witness reports, the man entered the water with the intention of crossing the river. Authorities conducted a search using drones and boats but were unable to locate him until his body was recovered. Alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

„Pohřešovaného muže našli policejní potápěči bohužel již bez známek života,“ uvedli policisté na síti X.

Událost se stala kolem páteční druhé hodiny ranní. Na místo dorazili několik minut po oznámení pardubičtí strážníci.

„Podle informací od svědka události ihned začali prohledávat břeh a hladinu řeky i s pomocí dronu. Do pátrání se následně připojili policisté a hasiči HZS Pardubického kraje s člunem a také dronem s termovizí,“ řekl mluvčí pardubické městské policie Jiří Sejkora.

Hlídky strážníků a policistů prověřily oba břehy Labe, kde pohřešovaný podle svědka kolem druhé hodiny ráno vstoupil do vody s úmyslem přeplavat řeku. V noci se ale muže nepodařilo nalézt. Roli zřejmě sehrál i alkohol.
