Rusija je u ponedjeljak objavila da nije pogodila povijesni samostan Pečersku lavru u Kijevu u noćnome napadu na vojne tvornice u glavnom ukrajinskom gradu te da je to vjersko mjesto oštetio američki protuzračni projektil Patriot.

U samostanu, koji je na popisu UNESCO-ove svjetske baštine, u noći na ponedjeljak je, nakon najtežega ruskog zračnog napada na glavni grad Ukrajine u zadnja dva tjedna, izbila vatra.
Moskva tvrdi da su u napadima dronovima ciljani i pogođeni proizvodni pogoni, dok su Ukrajina i mnoge zapadne zemlje optužile Rusiju za napad na samostan.
Rusko ministarstvo obrane izvijestilo je da je projektil Patriot, za koji je rečeno da je oštetio samostan, mogao promašiti jer su, prema objavi ministarstva zapadne zemlje Kijevu isporučile oružje kojemu je istekao rok trajanja.
"Oružane snage Ruske Federacije ne planiraju niti izvode napade na civilnu infrastrukturu", stoji u priopćenju ministarstva obrane.
"Prema potvrđenim izvješćima kompleks zgrada u Kijevsko-pečerskoj lavri pogođen je projektilom američkog sustava protuzračne obrane Patriot. Jedan od mogućih razloga kvara ovog sustava mogao bi biti taj što su zapadne zemlje kijevskom režimu isporučile projektile kojima je istekao rok trajanja", kaže se u priopćenju.
No ukrajinski predsjednik Volodimir Zelenskij u ponedjeljak je optužio Rusiju da je namjerno, dvama dronovima, ciljala kijevsku četvrt u kojoj se nalazi Katedrala Uznesenja Marijina.
Katedrala je oštećena tijekom noći u valu zračnih napada, dok Moskva tvrdi da je zgrada pogođena ukrajinskom raketom protuzračne obrane.
"Dva ruska drona namjerno su napala ovaj dio grada u kojem se nalaze Kijevsko-pečerska lavra i Misteckij arsenal", muzej smješten blizu samostana, napisao je Zelenskij na društvenim mrežama nakon što je obišao oštećene vjerske i kulturne objekte.
