Kada je u srijedu nešto nakon podne stigla i konačna potvrda onoga što su znali i vrapci na grani, užarila se atmosfera u “Gradu košarke”. Nakon duge četiri godine Danijel Jusup odlazi sa zadarske klupe.
Jedan dio navijača Zadra to je popratio u stanju blaženog blagostanja, dok je druga skupina zadarskih navijača bila ogorčena, tužna i puna poruka podrške za Jusupa. Čak su se na službenim stranicama Kluba brisali raznorazni komentari i, ako ovu situaciju promatrate sa strane, svakako vam ništa neće biti jasno.
Danijel Jusup je najtrofejniji trener Zadra. Čovjek koji je potpisao osam trofeja od ukupno 23, koliko ih Zadar ima u svojim vitrinama. Vratio je nakon 12 godina i legendarne 1986. prvi trofej u Jazine i to u samostalnoj Hrvatskoj. Isto je učinio i 2020., kada je nakon još jedne suše od 12 godina osvojen prvi trofej nakon odlaska iz Jazina. Popularni “Jupe” posljednji je koji je stvorio kvalitetnu skupinu domaćih igrača koja je kasnije godinama igrala po Europi i za reprezentaciju. Jusup je ujedno i jedini trener Zadra koji ima osvojen međunarodni trofej (Goodyear liga iz 2003.), a staž mu traje toliko dugo da je vodio Zadar i u Euroligi. Uvijek je vraćao kada je bilo potrebno, ali je i odbijao ponude najvećeg rivala - Cibone. Dotaknimo se i ovog posljednjeg mandata kad je došao u razrušeni klub, gdje je od skupine odbačenih igrača napravio skladni orkestar, odakle su igrači kasnije lansirani u europske visine, a Zadar je prvi put u svojoj povijesti dominirao i vladao hrvatskom košarkom, ma kakva god ona sada bila.
I to su činjenice, mjerljive i istinite, ali to nije dovoljno?
Možemo se dotaknuti i druge strane. Stalno se ističe da je Jusup izuzetno težak za suradnju. Što, ruku na srce, i jest istina, ali takav je i prema nadređenima, i prema novinarima, i prema igračima... Valjda se dovoljno puta opekao pa je sada taj njegov oprez došao do epskih razmjera. Možda su ga taj njegov karakter, u kojem nije savijao kičmu, i ta tvrdoglavost koštali bolje karijere, gdje bi možda pokupio koju simpatiju više, a ovako će uvijek, za jedan dio navijača, ostati neshvaćen. I istina, minula sezona bila je loša. Igrači su na parketu djelovali ispuhano, a Jusup bezidejno, vodeći neke svoje bitke, a nakon četiri godine izgubio je rat.
I što sada?
Bilo koji trener koji će preuzeti kormilo od Jusupa bit će bačen u kašetu brokava. Jedni će mu tražiti dlaku u jajetu, a drugi će imati prevelika očekivanja.
Po svemu sudeći, titulu Jusupova nasljednika uzet će Stipe Modrić . I već mu u startu treba skinuti kapu što se odlučio na tako odvažan potez. Jer će se svaki njegov korak pratiti mikroskopski. Kako su se klupske strukture odlučile da je došlo vrijeme za rastanak s Jusupom, znači li to da će njegov nasljednik biti sve ono što on nije bio? Dakle, od Modrića se očekuje lepršava košarka, razvijanje mladih igrača i povratak trofejima, jer valjda uprava ne teži stagnaciji, već iskoraku? I naravno, uz sve to, Modrić će na sve zadovoljno morati kimnuti glavom.
Zvuči li ovo sve malo utopistički?
Ništa, živi bili pa vidjeli, a vrijeme će pokazati je li se Zadar olako odrekao Jusupa…
