Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann hat die Debatte um Aussagen der TV-Experten Thomas Müller und Jürgen Klopp zu seiner Zukunft gelassen genommen. «Am Ende ist es mein Job jetzt, die Mannschaft so einzustellen, dass wir ein gutes Turnier spielen. Und wir dann auch in der Lage sind, nach der WM weiterhin gute Spiele zu machen», sagte Nagelsmann in der ARD unmittelbar vor dem Turnierstart der deutschen Fußball-Nationalmannschaft gegen Curaçao.

Ex-Weltmeister Müller und Klopp hatten beim WM-Eröffnungsspiel für Aufsehen gesorgt. Als es um die deutsche Aufstellung gegen Curaçao gegangen war, sagte Klopp: «Zum Glück stellt Julian Nagelsmann die Mannschaft auf» - und schob dann ein «noch» hinterher. Zudem hatten beide angeregt, wegen der langen Verletzungspause von Jamal Musiala auf Deniz Undav als Zehner zu setzen. Klopp relativierte diese Aussage später.

«Wir diskutieren leidenschaftlich»

Müller hatte auf die Kritik an den Aussagen reagiert und angekündigt, sich auch künftig nicht zurückhalten zu wollen. «Wir diskutieren natürlich leidenschaftlich, uns geht es darum, die Begeisterung rüberzubringen», sagte der Ex-Nationalspieler bei Magenta TV.

Er und Klopp seien «Riesenfans der Mannschaft» und des Turniers. Man diskutiere «taktisch, inhaltlich und vor allen Dingen auch sachlich». Allerdings sei bei ihnen «immer ein bisserl Schmäh mit dabei», sagte Müller. Dabei könne «auch immer ein bisschen was rausrutschen, was populistisch Wellen schlagen kann». Deshalb werde man sich aber «nicht verbiegen lassen und aufpassen, was wir denn sagen», sagte Müller. Ziel sei es, die Mannschaft zu unterstützen und «auch gute Laune» zu machen.

Effenberg äußert Kritik

Scharfe Kritik an dem «Noch»-Spruch äußerte Stefan Effenberg. «Das geht nicht, er spricht vor einem Millionen-Publikum», sagte der 57-Jährige in der Sport1-Sendung «Doppelpass». «So einen Spruch kannst du mit einem Bierchen an der Bar machen, wenn du allein bist. Aber nicht vor einem Millionen-Publikum, das ist ein absolutes No-Go.»
