Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris on Wednesday after attending the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, where India participated as a guest nation. Upon his arrival in the French capital, Modi was warmly welcomed by members of the Indian diaspora.
Highlighting the growing partnership between India and France, the Prime Minister said the relationship between the two countries continues to play an important role in advancing global progress and cooperation. Members of the Indian community gathered to greet Modi and expressed enthusiasm over his visit.
The Paris stop forms part of Modi's ongoing European tour, during which he has engaged with world leaders on a range of issues including trade, technology, security and global development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled that when he addressed the event in 2021, the world was grappling with the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that while the nature of global challenges has changed, the message remains the same: innovation can provide solutions where conventional approaches fall short.
Modi described 2026 as a landmark year for India and Europe, highlighting the conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement earlier this year. He said the pact would boost trade and investment while creating new opportunities for the exchange of talent, technology and tourism.
The Prime Minister also noted that the launch of the India-France Year of Innovation has further strengthened ties between the two regions, with France playing a key role in bringing the Indian and European technology ecosystems closer together.

Highlighting India's approach to artificial intelligence, Modi said, "For India, AI means All Inclusive," stressing that technology should be used to improve lives and create opportunities for all. He said India's role as the AI Country Partner at VivaTech 2026 reflects this vision.
The Prime Minister described India as an open society with the world's largest talent pool and said the government is simplifying regulations and improving the ease of doing business. He noted that India is supporting innovation and commercialisation through targeted incentives worth more than $50 billion, while also offering affordable data services and low-cost green energy.
Modi said the government's role is to enable innovation while industry drives growth, with startups leading disruption and global partners helping scale solutions. Inviting investors, entrepreneurs and technology leaders to collaborate with India, he urged them to "work with India and deliver for all."

Addressing the VivaTech 2026 summit in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India's technology-driven transformation over the past decade, saying the country has built some of the world's largest digital public infrastructure platforms.
Modi said India has leveraged technology on a massive scale to drive financial inclusion, education, telemedicine and agricultural services. He noted that India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) now accounts for nearly half of all real-time digital transactions globally and is also available for use in France, including at the Eiffel Tower and Paris Airport.
The Prime Minister also pointed to platforms such as DigiLocker, describing it as one of the world's largest digital document wallets, and said India's digital public goods ecosystem has become a model for large-scale technology adoption and service delivery.
