The project manager of the toilet society was convicted of gross aid fraud.

A project manager at Käymäläseura Huussi has been convicted of aggravated misuse of aid funds. The Pirkanmaa District Court sentenced the woman to nearly two years' conditional imprisonment and ordered her to repay 400,000 euros to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She was also found responsible for unclear fund usage in sanitation projects in Zambia and Ghana. The case was handled through a plea bargain, with the woman admitting guilt. Additionally, she must pay 225,000 euros plus interest to Huussi's bankruptcy estate.

Käymäläseura Huussin projektipäällikkö on tuomittu törkeästä avustuspetoksesta.

Pirkanmaan käräjäoikeus tuomitsi keskiviikkona viisikymppisen naisen lähes kahden vuoden ehdolliseen vankeuteen muun muassa törkeästä avustuspetoksesta.

Hän joutuu maksamaan ulkoministeriölle 400 000 euroa kehitysyhteistyörahoja takaisin.

Seura kertoi vuonna 2023, että sen kehitysyhteistyöhankerahojen käytössä oli ilmennyt epäselvyyksiä. Yhdistyksen hallitus teki rikosilmoituksen rahankäytön epäselvyyksistä Sambian kuivasanitaatio-ohjelmassa.

Tuomion saanut nainen toimi yhdistyksen projektipäällikkönä sekä Sambian että Ghanan sanitaatiohankkeissa, joiden molempien rahankäytössä oli syyttäjän mukaan epäselvyyksiä.

Syyttäjän mukaan nainen antoi avustuksesta päättävälle ulkoministeriölle vääriä tietoja rahoitukseen liittyvistä seikoista tai jätti kertomatta tai salasi olennaisia asioita.

Asia käsiteltiin tunnustamisoikeudenkäynnissä. Nainen tunnusti toimineensa tuomioesityksessä kuvatulla tavalla ja myönsi syytteet oikeiksi.

Nainen myös velvoitettiin maksamaan Huussin konkurssipesälle 225 000 euroa viivästyskorkoineen.
