Wahi è oggetto in Francia di una indagine volta a stabilire se, mentre giocava per il suo club, abbia deliberatamente preso un cartellino giallo nella partita contro il Metz del 17 maggio. Wahi è stato successivamente arrestato dalla polizia francese il 29 maggio. Wahi è il secondo calciatore a cui è stato negato l'ingresso in Canada. In precedenza era stato respinto anche il centrocampista ghanese Thomas Partey , oggetto di un'indagine per stupro in Inghilterra.
