He 's the new head of Kela .

The Finnish social security institution Kela has appointed Kirsi Varhila as its new director. Varhila will begin her role in August and has been selected for a five-year term. She holds a master's degree in political science and has previously worked in various governmental and administrative roles, including as head of the Social and Health Ministry's office, director at a regional administration office, and leader of the Satakunta well-being region. A total of 46 people applied for the position.

Kirsi Varhila on valittu Kelan johtajaksi. Hän aloittaa tehtävässään elokuussa.

Varhila vastaa valtakunnallisista asiakkuuspalveluista, asiakkaan lähipalveluista ja tietopalveluista.

Kelan tiedotteen mukaan johtaja toimii tarvittaessa pääjohtajan sijaisena.

Ennen Kelan pestiä Varhila on toiminut muun muassa sosiaali- ja terveysministeriön kansliapäällikkönä, johtajana aluehallintovirastossa sekä Satakunnan hyvinvointialuejohtajana.
