GNR dismantles drug trafficking network in Beja with 14 arrested

Fourteen individuals, including twelve men and two women aged between 18 and 53 years, were arrested by the Portuguese National Republican Guard (GNR) on Thursday for drug trafficking, criminal association, and possession of prohibited firearms in the municipalities of Aljustrel and Ferreira do Alentejo, district of Beja. Doze homens e duas mulheres, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 53 anos, foram detidos pela GNR nesta quinta-feira por tráfico de estupefacientes, associação criminosa e posse de arma proibida, nos concelhos de Aljustrel e Ferreira do Alentejo, distrito de Beja.

Foram apreendidas 106 doses de cocaína, dez doses de haxixe e dez pastilhas de ecstasy . Segundo um comunicado do Comando Territorial de Beja da GNR enviado às redacções, foram ainda apreendidos 2385 euros em numerário, quatro veículos, 18 telemóveis e diversos tipos de armas brancas e de fogo, além de “diverso material de acondicionamento de estupefaciente”.

A operação, que envolveu "um efectivo total de 162 militares", foi desenvolvida através do Núcleo de Investigação Criminal de Aljustrel e é resultado de uma investigação já em curso há seis meses. Segundo a nota, os militares da GNR “identificaram e desmantelaram” a “rede criminosa”, que operava na região na venda e na distribuição de drogas .

No mesmo comunicado, lê-se ainda que os 14 detidos foram constituídos arguidos e serão presentes ao Tribunal Judicial de Ourique ainda nesta sexta-feira, para a “aplicação de medidas de coacção”.
