Europska unija produljila je ekonomske sankcije protiv Rusije na 12 mjeseci, što je prvi put da su mjere produljene na godinu dana umjesto dosadašnjih šest mjeseci, priopćila je u četvrtak glasnogovornica predsjednika Europskog vijeća Antonija Coste.

EU je Moskvi uveo opsežne sankcije nakon početka pune ruske invazije na Ukrajinu 2022. godine, a mjere su usmjerene ponajprije na ruske prihode od izvoza fosilnih goriva, vojnu industriju te financijski sektor.

Dosad su se sankcije morale obnavljati svakih šest mjeseci, uz jednoglasnu suglasnost svih 27 država članica.

Ukrajina je u međuvremenu dobila novi val potpore Europske unije nakon što je bivši mađarski premijer Viktor Orbán, koji je ranije blokirao nekoliko paketa pomoći, napustio dužnost ranije ove godine.

EU je od tada otvorila formalne pristupne pregovore s Ukrajinom te odobrila zajam od 90 milijardi eura za Kijev.

Na sastanku u Bruxellesu u četvrtak svih 27 čelnika EU-a također je jednoglasno usvojilo zajedničku deklaraciju o potpori Ukrajini, prvi put u više od godinu dana, nakon što je Orbán u više navrata odbijao podržati zajedničke odluke o Ukrajini.
