Sergej Barbarez aprendió a anticipar jugadas e interpretar gestos y silencios en un verde con dimensiones mucho más pequeñas que las de un campo de fútbol. El actual entrenador de Bosnia Herzegovina, leyenda como exfutbolista del Hamburgo, colgó las botas y se puso las gafas ... de sol. Las que tapaban su mirada en las mesas de póker donde demostró que se le daba tan bien ir de farol como marcar goles. Esta guerra táctica y mental con cartas y apuestas de por medio acabó despertando en él otra inquietud: la de cambiar las fichas por futbolistas para sentarse en un banquillo profesional. Una decisión con la que ha conseguido clasificar a su país por segunda vez para un Mundial en cuyo debut sorprendió al arañar un empate ante la coanfitriona Canadá. Sufrieron, pero demostraron que a Italia no le deja cualquiera sin Copa del Mundo.
