La entonces titular de la cartera, hoy acomodada en la presidencia de Paradores del Estado, anunció una inversión de 277 millones de euros para ganar capacidad en la antigua autopista, que desde que se vio liberada vive en un embotellamiento permanente. Gustosa volvía a pagar los 7,30 euros en la garita de Las Cabezas por aliviar el tráfico. Pasé diez años abonando de forma semanal o quincenal, según la época del año, aquel peaje que nunca dejó de subir hasta el mismo 1 de enero de 2020 cuando se levantaron las vallas y se desmontaron las ventanillas de cobro. Entonces maldecía (ilusa yo) al Estado por renovar una y otra vez el convenio con la empresa concesionaria hasta aquel mismo verano de la pandemia cuando el viaje a Cádiz duraba una hora y media más.
