easyJet passengers should check their bags before making any trips. According to the airline , customers should inspect their luggage before travelling to the airport. The advice is available on the easyJet website, which offers travel tips and advice for passengers.

While sharing advice for anyone travelling with hold luggage, easyJet highlighted some 'useful packing tips' and urged customers to 'use a reliable bag'. In the message, easyJet explained it's important to complete pre-travel checks to ensure your luggage is suitable for use.

easyJet said: "Our bags go through a lot when they’re travelling the world with us! We advised checking your bag over before your trip to make sure zips, handles and wheels are working properly, it’s free from any major rips or cracks and that any loose straps or handles are secured to avoid damage. Avoid overpacking as this can result in your bag bursting during travel."

Passengers are also advised to label their luggage. The advice explained: "Make sure your bags stand out from the crowd on the carousel! We advised attaching something noticeable and unique to your luggage like a colourful ribbon, eye-catching sticker or personalised tag.

"This will make it easier for you to spot your luggage on the carousel at arrivals and avoid any confusion with similar bags. We also recommend adding a label to your luggage with your name and contact details such as address, email and phone number and put a copy of these details inside your bag too!"

These details can help passengers get their luggage back if the exterior tags fall off. Passengers also need to remove any old luggage tags from previous trips.

The airline added that customers should pack any essential items, such as money, travel documents, and medicine, inside their cabin bag. "Once your bag is checked into the aircraft hold you won’t be able to access it again until you’re in the arrivals hall of your destination airport."

The advice reflects similar guidance issued by other airlines. For instance, Jet2 also emphasises the importance of checking luggage before travel on its website as part of its 'top tips before travel'.

The airline noted that some types of luggage could be especially vulnerable. Jet2 said: "Please ensure your baggage is strong and fit for purpose, to protect the contents and to withstand the normal baggage handling process. Soft sided cases and handles, wheels and locks can be particularly vulnerable."
