Minister for Health, Medical and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav has submitted a report to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the State’s progress in the health sector over the past two years, and the initiatives taken by the department to improve healthcare services.

According to an official release on Thursday (June 18, 2026), the Minister said in the report that while absenteeism among health staff was one of the problems, the attendance of doctors and other health staff had risen 7% in the first year of the government and 28.13% in the second year.

During the first year, the department had to deal with issues inherited from the previous government and address these first, and therefore, the progress was more visible in the second year, the Minister wrote. “Performance of doctors and hospitals is being monitored continuously through targets set for them,” he said.

Regarding the efforts to expand AYUSH services, the Minister said the State has secured ₹124 crore as the Central assistance in the past two years, and approvals have been obtained for establishment of six new integrated AYUSH hospitals and three new colleges.

Contrary to what the Opposition claims, the Minister said the government has achieved progress in Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva scheme, as the number of beneficiaries per year has increased from 8.20 lakh during the previous government to 14.27 lakh under the coalition government.

Stating the plans for the next three years, the Minister said focus will be laid on building the necessary institutional framework for knowledge collection, research, treatment solutions, and specialised healthcare services related to these conditions.
