Defensoría alerts high level of confrontation in the elections

En su tercer informe de seguimiento sobre el proceso electoral, la Defensoría alertó un “ambiente electoral marcado por altos niveles de confrontación discursiva, estigmatización, difusión de información falsa o engañosa y cuestionamientos a las instituciones democráticas”.

De cara a la recta final de la campaña, que dejará como presidente a Abelardo de la Espriella o a Iván Cepeda, la Defensoría hizo un llamado a abandonar la estigmatización, rechazar la desinformación, proteger la vida y reconocer la legitimidad de los contradictores políticos.

La entidad propone nueve puntos para garantizar el respeto a los principios democráticos:

1. Defender la primacía de la vida

2. Adoptar una política de no violencia

3. Respetar las instituciones y las reglas del ordenamiento jurídico

4. Defender la democracia

5. Promover el lenguaje constructivo y eliminar la estigmatización

6. Garantizar la difusión de información veraz

7. Acoger el diálogo como compromiso democrático

8. Reconocer a la juventud

9. Apoyar y respetar las manifestaciones y protestas pacíficas.
