Gustavo Petro est finalement récompensé pour sa politique de "paix totale" avec différents groupes armés. Une centaine de guérilleros ont déposé les armes, jeudi 18 juin, dans le sud de la Colombie dans le cadre de négociations avec le gouvernement du président de gauche.
À trois jours du second tour de la présidentielle, 99 membres de la Coordination nationale armée bolivarienne (CNEB) ont été accueillis dans une zone dédiée au milieu de la jungle du département de Putumayo, a constaté l'AFP.
En tenue de camouflage, ils ont déposé symboliquement leurs fusils dans un immense conteneur portant l'inscription "Je parie sur la vie, je tiens parole pour la paix", sous la surveillance d'organismes internationaux et de l' Église catholique .

Le Cneb, groupe dissident des ex- Farc qui ont signé en 2016 un accord de paix historique avec l'État colombien, est la seule guérilla qui poursuivait les discussions engagées par Petro depuis le début de son mandat en 2022.
Guérillas d'extrême gauche, organisations paramilitaires d'extrême droite et groupes de narcotrafiquants ont tous claqué la porte des négociations .
Attente de la clarification de leur situation juridique
C'est "un message très fort et très puissant pour la société colombienne, à une époque où l'on entend beaucoup de bruit de guerre et où la violence globale s'intensifie", a déclaré Armando Novoa, chef de la délégation de paix du gouvernement auprès du CNEB.
Les guérilleros doivent rester durant dix mois sur ces terres, auparavant consacrées à des cultures de coca, dans l'attente d'un désarmement définitif et de la clarification de leur situation juridique.

Les Colombiens sont invités dimanche à choisir entre la continuité de la "paix totale" de Gustavo Petro avec son successeur désigné, le sénateur de gauche Ivan Cepeda , et le partisan de droite dure Abelardo de la Espriella qui, au contraire, promet l'affrontement direct avec les groupes armés.
