Chaos in the stellar neighborhood: the Small Magellanic Cloud is tearing apart, and it's not the Milky Way's fault

The Small Magellanic Cloud is splitting into two parts due to gravitational interactions with its larger neighbor, the Large Magellanic Cloud, rather than being caused by the Milky Way. The article discusses the cosmic neighborhood surrounding the Milky Way, which includes these dwarf galaxies visible from the southern hemisphere.
