Body of drowning victim recovered at Umdloti Beach after extensive search

The body of 22-year-old Bandile Ntaka, who drowned at Umdloti Beach on Monday, was recovered on Thursday evening. The Recovery Unit South Africa (RUSA), along with the South African Police Service (SAPS) Search & Rescue Unit, conducted an extensive search for the missing individual. At the family's request, a RUSA Robinson R44 helicopter was used for three consecutive days to locate and recover the body. Fishermen found the body near the shore and alerted a security officer, who helped recover it. The family has been informed.

THE body of 22-year-old Bandile Ntaka, of Mhlasini, who drowned on Monday while swimming at Umdloti Beach, was recovered on Thursday evening.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) said they in conjunction with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Search & Rescue Unit conducted an extensive search for the missing man following the incident.

"At the request of the family, the Rusa Robinson R44 Helicopter was deployed for three (3) consecutive days in an effort to locate and recover his body. A group of fishermen spotted the body near the shoreline this evening and alerted a security officer. The officer, together with his colleagues, entered the water and recovered the deceased," said Rusa's statement

They said the family had been informed.
