Belgium to deliver seven F-16s to Ukraine this year

Belgium plans to deliver seven F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine this year, with four intended for spare parts and three operational for defense against Russian aggression. Belgija će ove godine isporučiti sedam borbenih aviona F-16 Ukrajini i sprema se da prebaci celu svoju flotu u zemlju, izjavio je danas belgijski ministar odbrane Teo Franken (Theo Francken), preneli su tamošnji mediji.

Od sedam aviona, "četiri će biti korišćena za obezbeđivanje rezervnih delova, a tri će biti operativna u ukrajinskom vazdušnom prostoru kako bi branila Ukrajinu od ruske agresije", rekao je novinarima pre ministarskog sastanka NATO-a u Briselu.

Franken je rekao da planira da značajno poveća broj isporuka, iako nije izneo konkretne detalje.

"Predložiću vladi da pošaljemo sve naše F-16 Ukrajini u narednim godinama. To zavisi od operativne spremnosti naših F-35, jer, naravno, moramo održavati sposobnost protivvazdušne odbrane", dodao je belgijski ministar.
