Če je Slovenija medtem odpravila kontrole na mejah, pa se Avstrijci niso odločili za takšen korak. Prav nasprotno.
Avstrija namreč podaljšuje nadzor na meji s sosednjimi državami še za tri mesece. Uredba o podaljšanju nadzora meje s Slovenijo, pa tudi z Madžarsko, Češko in Slovaško, začne veljati danes, je sporočilo notranje ministrstvo na Dunaju. Avstrija bo varovanje meja izvajala s prilagojenimi ukrepi na obmejnem območju, je dejal notranji minister Gerhard Karner.
“Z evropskim paktom o migracijah in azilu je treba znatno razširiti in s tem okrepiti tudi zaščito zunanjih meja. Poleg tega so do nadaljnjega potrebni nadaljnji ukrepi za zaščito avstrijskega obmejnega območja,” je dejal Karner.
Minister je ob tem pojasnil, da je bilo “varovanje meja prestrukturirano in postalo bolj prilagodljivo”. “Namesto zgolj selektivnih, stacionarnih mejnih kontrol se zanašamo na široke, prilagodljive in učinkovite mejne kontrole. Cilj nove strategije je odstraniti tihotapce in kriminalce ter ne obremenjevati potnikov,” je pojasnil v izjavi, ki jo je v nedeljo objavilo avstrijsko notranje ministrstvo.
Avstrija je začasni nadzor na mejah s Slovenijo in Madžarsko uvedla že leta 2015, na vrhuncu begunske krize. Od takrat ga na vsakih šest mesecev podaljšuje. Na mejnih prehodih s Češko in Slovaško pa mejni nadzor izvaja od jeseni 2023.
Dunaj je mejni nadzor s četverico držav nazadnje podaljšal decembra lani, ukrep pa je veljal do 15. junija. Z današnjim dnem je mejni nadzor podaljšal še za tri mesece.
Kot glavni razlog za to na Dunaju navajajo grožnje, povezane z nezakonitimi migracijami in tihotapljenjem migrantov.
Evropska komisija je v začetku junija devet članic schengenskega območja, med njimi tudi Avstrijo, Slovenijo in Italijo, pozvala k odpravi mejnega nadzora. Pri tem so v Bruslju poudarili, da obstajajo alternativni ukrepi, ki so učinkovitejši od izvajanja kontrole na mejah med članicami schengna. Med temi so izpostavili nesistematične policijske kontrole, mobilno biometrično identifikacijo in tehnologije za sledenje vozilom.
Slovenija je s petkom odpravila začasni ponovni nadzor na meji s Hrvaško in Madžarsko, ki ga je izvajala od oktobra 2023. Uvedla ga je zaradi poslabšanja varnostnih razmer na Bližnjem vzhodu in povečane nevarnosti terorizma, potem ko je iz istih razlogov nadzor na meji s Slovenijo uvedla Italija. Ta ga je nazadnje podaljšala do 18. decembra.
