Australia's Qantas is opening the world's longest direct flight route from London to Sydney

Qantas plans to start direct flights from London to Sydney in October next year, reducing travel time from approximately 24-25 hours with a stop in Singapore to 20 hours. The route will use Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft and will primarily operate during winter months via the northern hemisphere.

Maailmankuulu ”kengurureitti” Euroopasta Australiaan lyhenee, jos Qantas-lentoyhtiön suunnitelmat toteutuvat.

Qantas aikoo aloittaa suorat lennot Lontoosta Sydneyyn ensi vuoden lokakuussa. Lentoaika on 20 tuntia. Nykyisin kengurureitin lento kestää noin 24-25 tuntia välilaskulla Singaporeen.

Ensimmäinen lähtökaupunki on Lontoo. Reitti kulkee pohjoisen pallonpuoliskon kautta erityisesti talviaikaan.

Liput ovat viidenneksen välilaskun sisältäviä lippuja kalliimpia. Lennoilla on käytössä Airbus A350-1000ULR-kalusto.
