Historiani Asdren Shala ka shprehur shqetësim për pozitën e shqiptarëve në Maqedoninë e Veriut, duke theksuar se ata përballen me rrezik asimilimi.

Në një deklaratë për Klan Kosova, të përcjellë nga agjencia e lajmeve INA, ai u shpreh:  “Më vjen keq, por shqiptarët e Maqedonisë nuk janë më së shumti të ekspozuar ndaj një asimilimi. Edhe për arsyen e parë se politika atje nuk e ka shqetësim kauzën shqiptare. E dyta, ajo që quhet elitë kulturore, jo domosdo më shumë shqetësohet për kauzat e largëta në Lindjen e Mesme siç është islami sesa për kauzën shqiptare që është gjithmonë në rrezik nga pala sllave.”

Sipas Shalës, përqendrimi i pamjaftueshëm i politikës dhe i elitës kulturore ndaj çështjes shqiptare në vend po e përkeqëson situatën, duke e bërë edhe më të vështirë ruajtjen e identitetit shqiptar në Maqedoninë e Veriut./INA/
