The High Court of Andhra Pradesh on Friday adjourned the hearing on IPS officer M. Sunil Kumar Naik’s anticipatory bail petition in the K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju’s custodial torture case to July 3, and extended the the interim protection for Mr. Naik till that date.

Justice Y. Lakshman Rao directed Mr. Naik, a Bihar cadre IPS officer, to cooperate in the investigation.

Mr. Naik was accused of involvement in the alleged torture of Mr. Ramakrishna Raju, who was then Narsapuram Member of Parliament from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Multiple charges were framed against Mr. Naik under various sections of Indian Penal Code, including sedition.
