The capital wants to get back the Stadliget after its financial situation has been resolved.

Budapest's mayor, Karácsony Gergely, stated that the city would prefer to regain control of the Városliget area after resolving its financial situation. He expressed satisfaction with the government's decision not to build new structures in the area and emphasized the importance of transforming the space into a park and making Kós Károly Promenade car-free.

Budapest számára csak az elfogadható, ha a város a pénzügyi helyzetének rendezését követően visszakapja a Városligetet, írta Karácsony Gergely főpolgármester csütörtökön a Facebook-oldalán.

A főpolgármester nagy örömnek nevezte, hogy csütörtökön a kormány is kimondta: nem épül új épület a Ligetben. Abban is teljes mértékben egyetértünk, hogy a lebontott épületek helyét parkosítani, a Kós Károly sétányt pedig autómentesíteni kell – tette hozzá. Ezekről itt írtunk bővebben.

Karácsony Gergely ugyanakkor úgy fogalmazott: „a jelenlegi pénzügyi helyzetben az a reális, ha ezeket az állam készíti elő, de hosszabb távon Budapest számára csak az elfogadható, ha a város pénzügyi helyzetének rendezését követően a város visszakapja a ligetét”.
