Кохановський повідомив виданню New Scientist , що пілотовані людиною дрони, відправлені для огляду наслідків, виявили "пару" загиблих російських солдатів, що призвело до висновку про те, що їх вбили повністю автономні дрони.
Український військовий командир розповів, що його пілоти дронів використовують лише напівавтономні системи, в яких ключові рішення щодо управління завжди приймають люди. Він також описав прихильність України до "міжнародного гуманітарного права", підкресливши, що військові завжди виявляють "велику обережність при прийнятті рішень, щоб запобігти жертвам серед цивільного населення".
Цікаво, що одноразовий характер цього експерименту має сенс, з огляду на практичні обмеження такого підходу, а також міркування, що стосуються міжнародного гуманітарного права. Відправлення повністю автономних дронів для атаки будь-чого в заданій області без будь-якого втручання людини-оператора вимагає ретельного попереднього планування і несе в собі ризик так званих інцидентів "дружнього вогню" або нападів на мирних жителів.
Також незрозуміло, наскільки ефективними були ці повністю автономні квадрокоптери у виборі та атаці цілей у порівнянні з пілотами дронів.
Важливо, що згідно з Управлінням ООН з питань роззброєння, на даний час немає загальноприйнятого визначення того, що являє собою летальна автономна система озброєння. Однак загальноприйняті характеристики описують системи озброєння, що мають автономність, яка дозволяє "виконувати свої функції без вказівок або втручання з боку людини".

Україна змінює підхід до фронтової логістики, все більше покладаючись на важкі безпілотники . Дрони-бомбардувальники, здатні перевозити значні вантажі, вже використовуються для доставки постачання в райони, де пересування людей надто небезпечне.
Безпілотник Max спочатку створювався як важка ударна платформа для ураження російських позицій і скидання вибухівки. Він може нести близько 40 кг корисного навантаження. Водночас його роль поступово змінюється.
