Δικαστήριο της Δομινικανής Δημοκρατίας διέταξε σήμερα την προσαγωγή σε δίκη του ιδιοκτήτη του νυχτερινού κέντρου «Jet Set», του οποίου η οροφή κατέρρευσε τον Απρίλιο του 2025, με αποτέλεσμα 236 άνθρωποι να βρουν τον θάνατ ο.
Η τραγωδία συνέβη στο Σάντο Ντομίνγκο, κατά τη διάρκεια συναυλίας του αστέρα της μουσικής μερένγκε Ρούμπι Πέρες, ο οποίος ήταν μεταξύ των νεκρών.
Ο Αντόνιο Εσπαϊγιάτ, ιδιοκτήτης του νυχτερινού κέντρου και η αδερφή του, Μαριμπέλ, διευθύντρια του «Jet Set», συνελήφθησαν κατηγορούμενοι για ανθρωποκτονία εξ αμελείας, αλλά αφέθηκαν ελεύθεροι αφού κατέβαλαν εγγύηση 842.500 δολαρίων (726 χιλιάδες ευρώ).

Ποινή φυλάκισης από έως δύο χρόνια
Η κατηγορία της ανθρωποκτονίας εξ αμελείας επιφέρει ποινή φυλάκισης από τρεις μήνες έως δύο χρόνια.
Το κίνημα «Δικαιοσύνη για το Jet Set», το οποίο εκπροσωπεί τα θύματα και τις οικογένειές τους, ζήτησε αυστηροποίηση του κατηγορητηρίου.
Ωστόσο, ο δικαστής Ρεϊμούντο Μεχία ανέφερε πως η κατάρρευση ενός κτιρίου δεν μπορεί να συγκριθεί με την περίπτωση που κάποιος ανοίγει πυρ εναντίον πλήθους. «Η απονομή δικαιοσύνης δεν αφορά εκδίκηση», τόνισε.
