Media reports indicate that two pedestrian deaths have already been recorded in 2026. The police emphasize that both drivers and pedestrians share responsibility for ensuring safety on the roads. They warn that failing to comply with traffic rules increases the risk of serious harm or death. Officers are conducting checks throughout the city, focusing particularly on areas with high pedestrian activity and frequent traffic congestion. These zones include major thoroughfares such as Maksimir Avenue, Strossmayerova Street, and the surrounding neighborhoods near the city center. The operation is part of a broader effort to improve road safety in Zagreb.
