Zakazano izricanje prvostupanjske presude u predmetu protiv Thacija

The Special Chambers for Kosovo in The Hague have announced that the first-instance verdict against former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and three other former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi, will be delivered on September 16, 2026. The trial, which began in April 2023, has been extended due to the extensive evidence and complexity of the case. The charges include six counts of crimes against humanity—persecution, unlawful detention, other inhumane acts, torture, murder, and enforced disappearances—and four counts of war crimes, including unlawful arrest, cruel treatment, torture, and murder. These alleged crimes were said to have occurred between March 1998 and September 1999 in various locations across Kosovo and northern Albania. The prosecution claims that members of the KLA committed these crimes against hundreds of civilians and non-combatants, and that the accused bear individual criminal responsibility. All four defendants have been in custody since November 2020.
