ItalyA significant archaeological discovery has been made in the Conero area near Sirolo, Ancona, revealing a princely funeral complex dating back to the 6th century BC. The find includes a large male tomb with a two-wheeled chariot, weapons, and prestige objects, alongside a remarkably preserved female burial site containing textiles, footwear, ornaments, and traces of the funeral bed framework. The complex features a monumental wooden palisade surrounding the cemetery, an architectural solution previously unknown in Picenian necropolises. This discovery offers new insights into the social hierarchy, elite roles, and cultural connections between the Picenes, Etruria, and central Italy during the pre-Roman period.
