Lors de l'attaque russe jeudi soir, un record de 52 000 personnes se sont réfugiées dans le métro de Kiev.

In the night of July 2nd, 2026, during a large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv, approximately 52,500 people, including nearly 4,500 children, took shelter in the city’s metro stations. This marked the highest number of people seeking refuge in Kyiv’s underground system during a nighttime air raid in recent years. The Kyiv Metro operator reported that all 46 underground stations were used as shelters, with their entrances kept open. Authorities advised residents to use central metro stations, where fewer people typically take cover during such emergencies. The attack involved drones, unguided aerial bombs, and ballistic missiles launched from land, sea, and air, totaling 570 aerial weapons. Ukrainian anti-air defenses destroyed 48 rockets and 476 Russian drones during the assault. At least 23 civilians died, and over 80 others were injured. The attack caused fires and damage across various parts of the city, affecting civilian infrastructure, residential areas, markets, and hotels. Kyiv declared July 3rd as a day of mourning.
