They attempted to extinguish the flames using firefighting equipment before assisting the injured in getting into the pool. Emergency services, firefighters, and police arrived quickly at the scene. Once stabilized and treated at a hospital in Vibo Valentia, the injured were transferred to three different specialized medical centers. The father was sent to Palermo, the mother to Catania, and the child to a hospital in Bari. Medical teams worked tirelessly to save the young girl’s life over several days, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The death of the child was confirmed by the Municipality of Rovigo in the Italian region of Veneto, though this appears to be a possible error given the location of the tragedy in Calabria. The municipality of Rovigo, from which the family originated, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss. “In these unimaginable difficult moments, we express our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends, and the entire community affected by this incomprehensible tragedy,” the municipality stated.
