Aliyu Mohammed, a prominent leader within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, publicly endorsed Dr. Jamilu Gwamna as the party's preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election during a rally attended by his supporters. The endorsement was delivered in Gombe City, where Mohammed formally aligned his political network with Gwamna’s campaign, marking a strategic move to consolidate support ahead of the upcoming polls. Mohammed, widely known as Kombat, is the founder of the Velocity Humanitarian Foundation and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Velocity Nigeria Limited. His public declaration of support came after discussions with representatives from his foundation, political allies, and local leaders. He emphasized that the decision was based on a thorough evaluation of the political environment and Gwamna’s vision for the state. “After carefully assessing the political landscape and Dr. Gwamna’s agenda, I became convinced that supporting the APC candidate is the best path for the continued development of Gombe State,” he stated. In addition to endorsing Gwamna, Mohammed acknowledged the positive impact of current Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s tenure. He highlighted how the governor’s efforts have strengthened the APC’s standing in the state. “What Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has done for Gombe State is visible to everyone. Even those who are not from Gombe can see the transformation,” he remarked. This assessment suggests that the APC is well-positioned to capitalize on existing gains in the lead-up to the 2027 elections. Mohammed also called upon APC members to maintain unity and collective effort toward securing electoral success. “I want to call on all APC members to come together, support our candidate and work for the progress of our party and the continued development of Gombe State,” he urged. His message underscored the importance of solidarity among party members as they prepare for the challenges ahead. Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, expressed appreciation for Kombat’s dedication to youth development and his role in mobilizing support for the party. “We appreciate his doggedness in bringing everyone together and for making the youth of our state his priority. Whoever abandons the youth abandons the future of that society. In Kombat, we have found someone who believes in the future of Gombe,” Gwamna said. He outlined plans to prioritize employment opportunities for young people and women through job creation, entrepreneurship support, and skills training programs. Gwamna also appealed to party members to unite in their efforts to achieve victory in all levels of the 2027 elections. “I want to use this opportunity to ask for your support to ensure that we deliver the APC from top to bottom. By the grace of Allah, we will deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our senators, members of the House of Representatives, members of the State House of Assembly, and, by the will of Allah, we shall also secure victory in the governorship election,” he promised. Furthermore, Gwamna appointed Kombat as a key campaign coordinator, entrusting him with the responsibility of mobilizing the party’s base. “From today, Engr. Aliyu Kombat is the commander of this struggle. I have confidence in his capacity to mobilize our people and deliver victory for the APC. Insha Allah, he will succeed,” he added. Hon. Inuwa Garba, a representative of the Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency, welcomed the endorsement as a significant step toward strengthening the APC’s cohesion in Gombe. He praised Mohammed for prioritizing the party’s interests over individual ambitions and encouraged members to stay committed to achieving electoral success. The Chairman of the Kombat Humanitarian Foundation, Hon. Abubakar Danzaria, highlighted the positive contributions of Mohammed’s humanitarian work, noting its impact on vulnerable communities and reinforcing his dedication to public service.
