The gallery will continue to be managed temporarily by interim director Olga Kotková, who was appointed after the previous director, Alice Knastová, was dismissed earlier this year. Five candidates applied in the initial selection, including Aleš Seifert, director of the Alšova Gallery in Plzeň, and Marcel Fišer, director of the Gallery of Fine Arts in Cheb. Both candidates shared their proposals on social media and encouraged others to participate. Ex-minister of culture Martin Baxa criticized Klempíř’s decision as unnecessary, while academic Tomáš Pospiszyl argued that repeating the selection process would not resolve the gallery’s underlying issues, pointing out budget constraints as a major challenge.
