“Estamos en una sensación constante de peligro”: así vive el colectivo LGTBIQ+ el auge de los discursos de odio

The article discusses the growing concern among members of the LGTBIQ+ community in Spain regarding the rise of hate speech and violence against them. Candy Brightman, a transgender woman, notes that 78% of people in the community fear for their physical safety and equality due to the increase in reactionary discourse. Tobías Conza, another transgender man, describes how daily life is affected by constant fear, particularly in public spaces like restrooms, and highlights the role of social media in amplifying hate. Both individuals emphasize the psychological impact of these discourses, which create a sense of ongoing danger and persecution. The report by the FELGTBI+ in collaboration with the IPP, based on 800 interviews, reveals that 66% of respondents see the current socio-political climate as a threat to vulnerable groups' rights. It also proposes solutions such as strengthening education on diversity and gender issues, supported by 59% of participants, and advocating for a State Pact against hate speech.
