Alcaldía Benito Juárez recupera espacios públicos a través de "Martes de Parques" y Brigadas BJ; atienden a más de 200 vecinos

The Benito Juárez Borough Council has intensified efforts to restore and maintain public spaces through its "Martes de Parques" initiative and the Brigadas BJ, which recently conducted operations at Parque Miraflores in San Pedro de los Pinos and the Centro Urbano Presidente Alemán (CUPA) in the Del Valle Sur neighborhood. During these activities, more than 200 residents received direct assistance, including free health services, community support, and other complimentary offerings. The operations included cleaning, pruning, rehabilitation, painting, signage, and drainage work. At the CUPA, the Brigadas BJ provided aid to 201 individuals and delivered 532 free services. In Parque Miraflores, over nine thousand square meters were addressed with sweeping, cleaning, weeding, and pruning tasks. Trees and shrubs were maintained, approximately two cubic meters of waste was removed, and benches, picnic tables, chess tables, and recreational elements were painted and restored. As part of preventive measures, six floor grates and five inspection pits were drained, removing roughly half a cubic meter of sludge. At the CUPA, crews installed 740 meters of pedestrian crossing markings, channel lines, and directional arrows. They also maintained urban furniture, washed playground equipment, and cleaned nearby streets, collecting around 550 kilograms of solid waste and addressing eight storm drains. In parallel, the Brigadas BJ brought free health and community services to CUPA residents, including medical, psychological, and dental evaluations, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, vision tests, legal advice, job placement assistance, social programs, and cultural activities. Additional services such as haircuts, locksmithing, shoe repair, and workshops on sexual health and first aid were offered, involving personnel from the Civil Protection agency. Karina Magaña, director general of Urban Services, emphasized that these initiatives improve public space conditions while simultaneously meeting the needs of local residents. "A well-maintained neighborhood is one that can be enjoyed, lived in, and shared," she stated. "Through these efforts, we continue working to keep our public spaces clean, dignified, and in optimal condition for everyone, bringing essential services directly to our neighbors." Maria del Mar Garcia, a member of the Community Participation Commission (Copaco) in San Pedro de los Pines, acknowledged the borough council's response to resident requests, including relocating access to the dog area in Parque Miraflores. This action allowed the recovery of pedestrian passage along the sidewalk. "We appreciate the borough council’s support with pruning, signage, and attention to the needs of the residents," she noted. "Relocating the entrance to the dog area helped recover the sidewalk passage and improve circulation." The activities reflect a broader strategy aimed at enhancing urban quality of life through direct engagement with communities.
