To Sozopol is the road of the Bulgarian Camino.

The first pilgrimage route in Bulgaria, inspired by Spain's Camino de Santiago, was officially opened in Sozopol. The 'Path to the Relics of St. John the Baptist' spans 81 kilometers through historical and spiritual sites in the towns of Malo Tarnovo, Primorsko, and Sozopol, ending at Sozopol where the relics of St. John the Baptist are kept. Pilgrims began their journey on June 19 from Malo Tarnovo, walking over four days through Strandja. The route aims to attract both religious pilgrims and nature and history enthusiasts. The opening coincided with the anniversary of the discovery of St. John the Baptist's relics on Saint Ivan Island in 2010 by archaeologist Prof. Kazimir Popkonstantinov and his team.
