The issue stems from longstanding practices among locals and nearby communities, who have traditionally occupied the narrow strip of sand along the shoreline, even though official signs prohibit placing sunbeds within five meters of the water’s edge. This space, meant to remain clear for safety reasons, allows emergency services and lifeguards to move freely in case of accidents or emergencies. However, many regular users, often families and elderly individuals, have continued to set up their belongings on the beach, using towels instead of sunbeds as a temporary solution. Recent weeks saw heightened tensions between local businesses and authorities, with complaints escalating after repeated violations of the rules.
