The biggest ecstasy seizure in Europe's history: 15 people arrested in Spain

In a joint police operation between two countries, authorities seized a record 947 kilograms of ecstasy in European history, along with 15 individuals who were arrested. Of these, 12 were placed under detention. The suspects were accused of crimes against public health, membership in an organized criminal group, theft of electrical energy, and illegal possession of weapons. According to Spanish police, the drug traffickers planned to hide synthetic drugs inside a container intended for transportation from the Belgian port of Antwerp to Ghana. Investigators stated the plan was to replace ecstasy with cocaine in Ghana, which would then be smuggled into Europe through Spanish ports and subsequently transported to South America. The investigation, initiated at the beginning of 2025, revealed that the suspects coordinated shipments from Spain and the Netherlands to Africa, where they eventually reached Latin American countries. Joint police raids were conducted at the end of January 2026 after confirming the shipment was imminent. During the search, police also confiscated 644 cannabis plants, three pieces of firearms, 46,000 euros in cash, and five luxury watches.

Bias read (Center): The article presents factual information about a major drug trafficking operation without overtly favoring any political ideology. It reports on law enforcement actions, legal charges, and the scale of the seizure without taking a clear ideological stance. While the topic involves crime and security
