Fight against drug trafficking: 26 arrested in GNR's mega operation in Aveiro
The Portuguese National Guard (GNR) conducted a major operation in Aveiro, resulting in the detention of 26 individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, possession of firearms, and other related offenses. The operation, which lasted several months, involved 43 home searches, 44 non-home searches, and the execution of 11 arrest warrants. Authorities seized approximately 40 kilograms of hashish, equivalent to around 80,000 individual doses, along with other illicit substances and materials linked to criminal activity. The investigation identified an organized crime structure operating across multiple districts, including Aveiro and Porto, targeting areas with high youth populations and using educational institutions' surroundings for distribution. The suspects range in age from 17 to 61 years old and will appear before a court for initial judicial interrogation.
