Ownership

Republika.rs is the online portal of the Belgrade tabloid Srpski Telegraf (Serbian Telegraph), founded in 2016 by journalists Milan Lađević and Saša Milovanović, both former editors at the daily Kurir. The publishing company is privately held (operating under the Media Network / Srpski Telegraf umbrella), but watchdogs treat it as part of the cluster of nominally private outlets that operate in tight alignment with Serbia's ruling party.

Funding

Financed mainly through online advertising and the print sales of its parent Srpski Telegraf. Like other pro-government Serbian tabloids, it benefits heavily from state-linked advertising and budget co-financing that flows to outlets favorable to the authorities.

Affiliation & stance

Editorially nationalist and consistently pro-government, promoting the positions of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and President Aleksandar Vučić while attacking critics of the authorities. Although privately owned on paper, this party-aligned editorial control makes it DEPENDENT rather than a genuinely independent commercial outlet.

ĐOKOVIĆ SE MUČIO ALI PRAŽAO DALJE: The great battle between the Serbs and the French at Wimbledon

In the third round of Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic faced Arthur Rinderknech. The match was closely contested, with Djokovic ultimately winning 3:1 in sets (5:7, 4:6, 6:1, 6:7 (7)). Djokovic displayed moments of both strong and inconsistent play but managed to avoid an upset by maintaining his quality throughout the match. In the first set, he broke Rinderknech's serve in the fifth game but failed to hold his advantage in the sixth, allowing the French player to level the score. The second set saw Djokovic reach a break point in the third game but fail to capitalize on two set points in the 11th game. However, he held his serve in the next game to take the set. In the third set, Rinderknech dominated early, breaking Djokovic's serve twice and taking the set 6:1. Djokovic struggled in this set, scoring only nine points. The fourth set was highly competitive, with both players trading breaks and holding serves under pressure. Rinderknech served for the match at 5:4 but failed to convert, leading to a tie-break where Djokovic eventually won 7:5.

An American gets the maximum amount of recovery time at Wimbledon.

The article discusses the scheduling of the first-round doubles match at Wimbledon involving American tennis player Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams against the Argentine-Colombian pair Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio. The match was initially scheduled for Thursday and Friday but has been postponed due to Serena's injury during her singles match. Tournament organizer Andy Murray (likely a misstatement, as Andy Murray is a British player, and the correct name might be someone like Ashley Barker or another official) stated they are giving Serena as much time as possible to recover. They ruled out postponing the match to later dates unless necessary for safety or tournament flow. The match is expected to take place on a larger court to accommodate the large crowd attracted by Serena and Venus, who are major stars. Serena returned to professional tennis after four years, but she lost her first singles match and injured her knee. She did not attend a press conference afterward due to health reasons and expressed her commitment to participating in the doubles event. Serena and Venus have won six doubles titles together, including a title in 2016.

Julija je slučajno videla jednu fotografiju na Instagramu: U tom trenutku život joj se raspao, otkrila je šokantne tajne svog muža i sve je bilo gore i gore

The article recounts the story of Julija Agranovič, a former Russian model turned pediatric dentist, who discovered her husband's affair through an Instagram photo posted by a woman named Vlada Abramovič. The photo showed a view from Julija’s bedroom window, which Vlada had taken without realizing it was of Julija’s home. Upon investigating further, Julija found evidence of her husband’s infidelity, including shared friends and photos of him smiling at the camera. In response, Julija left a sharp comment on Vlada’s profile, leading to a confrontation. Her husband initially denied the affair with a fabricated story, but Julija confronted him directly. Vlada later admitted to the affair on another social media platform, sparking public outrage. Despite attempts by Julija’s husband to justify his actions using the concept of 'mental fidelity,' the situation ultimately exposed his dishonesty.

Police denied that there had been an incident at Music Week: "There was panic, there was no stabbing"

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and Emergency Services denied reports circulating on social media that there was an incident at the closing night of the Belgrade Music Week festival at Ušće last night, where multiple people were injured. According to MUP, a rumor spread that several individuals had been stabbed with a knife, causing panic, but no stabbing occurred. They stated that everyone claimed they only heard about the incident and no one saw it or was injured. When asked about a video from social media showing police officers leading someone away, MUP explained it was a response to some individuals due to bad behavior. Emergency Services confirmed they did not have any interventions at the location. Earlier, Belgrade Music Week issued a statement saying false and unverified information caused public concern among those in the front rows. The statement noted that no such incidents were recorded by the relevant authorities, including security services, police units, and emergency teams stationed at the venue throughout the event. It clarified that the video circulating online showed a routine and timely action by the responsible authorities against an individual due to a

MEDITERAN PROKLjUČAO: Temperature kao u Persijskom zalivu

The article reports on an unusual rise in sea temperatures in the Mediterranean Sea, noting that water temperatures have reached levels typically seen in the Persian Gulf. Scientists warn this is an extreme marine heatwave, a phenomenon not previously recorded at this time of year. Measurements taken by a floating station near Majorca in late May showed temperatures of 26.6°C, typical of the Persian Gulf. By June, unusually warm waters had spread across parts of the western Mediterranean, exceeding average temperatures by over four degrees Celsius. Experts describe this as a 'strong, even extreme' marine heatwave, attributing it to prolonged heatwaves and an atmospheric phenomenon known as the 'omega block,' which traps hot air over Europe. The lack of wind has accelerated the warming of the sea. The Mediterranean is currently the fastest-warming body of water globally due to its relatively small size and enclosed nature, making it particularly sensitive to climate change. Temperatures in some areas are approaching 30°C. Scientists caution that such warming could lead to severe storms, threaten marine ecosystems, and cause mass die-offs of fish, corals, and shellfish.

A member of the OVK arrested at the Mutivode crossing

The article reports on the arrest of Osman Selmani, a 73-year-old Kosovo citizen, by Serbian police at the administrative border crossing of Mutivode. He is suspected of committing a war crime against civilians during the 1999 NATO bombing campaign in Pristina, specifically the brutal murder of a Serbian couple, Stanisavljević Vladimir and Persa. The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs released an official statement confirming the arrest and stated that Selmani was detained for up to 48 hours before being transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for War Crimes and subsequently placed under house arrest for 30 days by the Higher Court in Belgrade. The family of Selmani has categorically denied all allegations, calling them baseless and untrue, while local Albanian media have reported that neither the Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor the diaspora ministry in Pristina has issued any formal response. This incident is part of a broader pattern of arrests of Kosovo citizens by Serbian authorities over the past few years, based on suspicions of involvement in war crimes committed during the 1998–1999 conflict.

The publication of the verdict for the smuggling of two and a half tons of cocaine is scheduled for July 16!

The article reports on the conclusion of a trial at the Special Court in Belgrade involving Slobodan Kostovski and three other men accused of trafficking around two tons of cocaine. The case relates to the disruption of a cocaine smuggling chain from South America to Europe, uncovered after a plane was found carrying kilograms of cocaine packed in sports bags on the Atlantic Ocean in August 2023. The defendants' lawyers have presented their final arguments, challenging the prosecution's claims that they operated as an organized crime group involved in drug trafficking. They dispute the evidence, including alleged manipulation by experts and fabricated data, and argue that the prosecution has exaggerated the scope of the case to create the impression of substantial proof. The court has scheduled the release of verdicts for July 16, and the defense has requested the complete dismissal of all charges against the accused.
