WHO: Over 70 health workers infected with Ebola in Congo 17 17 dead

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that over 70 healthcare workers have been infected with Ebola in eastern Congo, with 17 deaths among them. The outbreak was officially declared on May 15, but it likely spread for weeks before being recognized. In two weeks, the number of infected healthcare workers has doubled. According to the Congolese government, approximately 900 people have been infected, with 232 deaths. The region has long been affected by war, and the health system is struggling due to a lack of equipment.
