VP Gibran vows priority for 3T schools under revitalization program

Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka pledged to prioritize the revitalization of schools in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas during a visit to Wolomoni Elementary School in Niowula Village, East Nusa Tenggara. The school's principal highlighted the need for improved infrastructure, including better fencing and internet access, while expressing hope for government support.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka reinforced the government’s commitment to accelerating the school revitalization program nationwide, pledging special attention to facilities in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas.

“Rest assured, we are prioritizing schools in 3T areas,” he remarked in Ende District, East Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday (June 18), as quoted in a press release from the Vice Presidential Secretariat on Friday.

Gibran conveyed the assurance during a visit to Wolomoni Elementary School in Niowula Village, where he received complaints from residents regarding inadequate educational infrastructure and facilities.

On that occasion, a parent requested government support to improve the school’s perimeter, noting that its fencing still relies on wood and bamboo materials.

In response, Gibran emphasized that all schools in the area would be covered by the ongoing national renovation program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

He said he would make efforts to include the elementary school in the government’s development agenda.

Wolomoni Elementary School Principal Yohanes stressed that his side is ready to support revitalization and upgrade works, including the adoption of digital technology.

However, he acknowledged that the school still lacks adequate access to the internet and expressed hope that the revitalization program would cover information and communication equipment and housing support for teachers.

Vice President Gibran had earlier conducted a firsthand inspection of Public Junior High School Ndona 1 in Ende on the same day.

He learned that the school has difficulties accessing the internet, clean water, and communication devices, with its fences in a substandard state.

Sofia Ere, the school’s principal, emphasized that the revitalization program is especially important for educational facilities in 3T areas.

She suggested that the national initiative help address shortages in internet connectivity, clean water, fencing, information and communication technology equipment, and other basic necessities.
