Avion je leteo iz meksičkog grada Los Kabosa ka Ostinu u Teksasu. Direktor aerodroma u Laredu Gilberto Sančez izjavio je za Njujork tajms da je letelica prijavila ozbiljne mehaničke probleme.

Tokom pada avion je udario u jedno vozilo na auto-putu, potvrdio je istražitelj policije Laredo Hose Baeza, uz napomenu da nije jasno koji deo letelice je pogodio vozilo.

U avionu je bilo šest osoba. Policija je saopštila da je jedna osoba poginula, dok je petoro preživelih prevezeno u bolnicu i nalaze se u stabilnom stanju.

Na snimcima objavljenim na društvenim mrežama vidi se gust dim i vatra koja je zahvatila olupinu.

Baeza je naveo da je i nekoliko pripadnika hitnih službi zatražilo pomoć zbog udisanja dima.

Nesreća se dogodila u blizini aerodroma Laredo, oko 240 kilometara jugozapadno od San Antonija.

Zbog pada aviona zatvoren je auto-put Lup 20, a vlasti navode da će saobraćaj verovatno ostati obustavljen i tokom narednog dana.

U istragu su uključeni FBI i Nacionalni odbor za bezbednost saobraćaja (NTSB).
