Two charged after handgun, ammunition and silencer seized in west Dublin

A man in his 20s and a male teenager will appear before the courts on Friday.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been charged after a firearm, ammunition and a silencer were seized during a search in north Dublin.

The search was carried out under warrant at a location in the Mulhuddart area of Dublin 15 on Tuesday. It was part of ongoing investigations targeting the activities of organised crime groups in the area.

During the course of the search, a 9mm handgun, ammunition and silencer were seized. The gun is now subject to technical analysis.

Two males, a teenager and a man in his 20s, were arrested in connection with the investigation. They have since been charged.

The man will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday, while the teenager will appear before the Children’s Court in Smithfield.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
